Epitalon — Research Reference

A synthetic AEDG tetrapeptide derived from pineal-gland peptide research, studied for telomerase activation, circadian regulation, and cellular-longevity endpoints in animal-model and cell-culture systems.

What is Epitalon?

Epitalon (also spelled Epithalon) is a synthetic tetrapeptide with the amino-acid sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (AEDG), derived from research on the pineal-gland extract epithalamin conducted primarily at the Saint Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. It is one of the most-cited peptides in the longevity and cellular-senescence research literature, with a large body of published rodent-model and human-cell-culture work documenting telomerase upregulation, extended replicative capacity of somatic cells, restoration of circadian melatonin rhythms in aged models, and modulation of the HPG (hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal) axis. Noxa Labs supplies Epitalon as a third-party tested analytical reference material for in-vitro research only. Note: this compound is supplied strictly as an analytical reference material for in vitro research by qualified professionals. It is not a pharmaceutical product, supplement, or substance for human or animal use.

Mechanism in research literature

The most-cited mechanistic finding is telomerase activation. Cultured human somatic-cell studies published in the early 2000s documented Epitalon inducing measurable telomerase activity and extending replicative lifespan of fibroblasts beyond the classical Hayflick limit — an effect notable because most somatic cells lack meaningful telomerase expression in adulthood. The AEDG sequence is described in the literature as binding chromatin regions associated with telomerase-related gene promoters, upregulating hTERT expression in exposed cells. Beyond telomere biology, animal-model studies describe restoration of the day-night melatonin secretion pattern in aged animals, normalisation of cortisol rhythms, and modulation of gonadotropin release consistent with a pineal-axis mechanism. Additional research documents antioxidant activity — reductions in lipid peroxidation markers — in oxidatively-challenged cell cultures. Reviews across the gerontology and pineal-peptide literature summarise Epitalon as a chromatin-active tetrapeptide whose signature research finding is telomere-related, complemented by circadian-axis effects.

Documented research applications

Documented research contexts include telomerase and telomere-length assays in human somatic-cell culture; cellular-senescence and replicative-lifespan research; circadian-rhythm and melatonin-secretion studies in aged rodent models; HPG-axis and gonadotropin research; antioxidant and oxidative-stress assays; and chromatin-binding structure-activity studies of short peptides. Epitalon is a standard reference tool in the pineal-peptide and gerontology research families.

Reconstitution

Epitalon is supplied lyophilised. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water for injection (BAC water) to a working concentration appropriate to your assay. A 10 mg vial reconstituted with 1 mL BAC water yields a 10 mg/mL working stock. Direct diluent against the vial wall and swirl gently until fully dissolved.

Storage & stability

Lyophilised Epitalon is stable at room temperature for short transit periods. For long-term storage hold at 2–8 °C protected from light. Once reconstituted, store at 2–8 °C and use within 3–4 weeks per the batch COA.

Availability in the Philippines

Noxa Labs ships Epitalon from Metro Manila cold storage. Same-day NCR dispatch on Mon–Fri orders placed before 2 PM PHT. Nationwide arrival in 2–3 business days via Grab Express, Lalamove, LBC, or JRS Express.
