DSIP — Research Reference

A nonapeptide isolated from mammalian brain tissue, studied for slow-wave sleep induction, EEG delta-wave modulation and HPA-axis regulation in research models.

What is DSIP?

DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) is a small nonapeptide first isolated in the early 1970s from the cerebral venous blood of sleeping rabbits, and named for its ability to induce sleep-like EEG delta-wave activity in recipient animals. It is one of the earliest characterised endogenous neuropeptides and remains a reference tool in circadian, sleep-architecture, and stress-axis research. Beyond its namesake sleep-related effects, published animal-model and cell-culture studies also document DSIP modulating adrenocortical output, corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) responses, and oxidative-stress markers — placing it at the intersection of sleep, stress, and neuroendocrine research. Noxa Labs supplies DSIP as a third-party tested analytical reference material for in-vitro research only. Note: this compound is supplied strictly as an analytical reference material for in vitro research by qualified professionals. It is not a pharmaceutical product, supplement, or substance for human or animal use.

Mechanism in research literature

The molecular target of DSIP is unusual for a neuropeptide: after decades of study no single canonical receptor has been definitively identified, and the current research framing describes DSIP as acting through multiple neuromodulatory pathways rather than one receptor. Published EEG work in rodent models documents DSIP increasing the proportion of slow-wave (delta-band) activity during sleep episodes, an effect reproduced across intracerebroventricular and systemic administration protocols. Neuroendocrine studies describe blunted ACTH and cortisol responses to laboratory stressors, consistent with a GABAergic and CRH-modulating mechanism. Additional research documents antioxidant effects — reduced lipid peroxidation, preserved membrane integrity — in oxidatively-stressed cell cultures. Reviews across the sleep and neuropeptide literature converge on the same picture: DSIP is a multi-pathway modulator of sleep architecture and stress-axis output rather than a single-receptor agonist.

Documented research applications

Documented research contexts include sleep-architecture and EEG delta-wave rodent models; HPA-axis and corticotropin regulation studies; stress-response and adaptation research; oxidative-stress and neuroprotection assays; and circadian-rhythm modulation work. DSIP is also frequently used as a comparator against other endogenous sleep-related peptides in structure-activity research.

Reconstitution

DSIP is supplied lyophilised. For laboratory handling, reconstitute with bacteriostatic water for injection (BAC water) to a working concentration appropriate to your assay. A 5 mg vial reconstituted with 1 mL BAC water yields a 5 mg/mL working stock; adjust per assay requirements. Direct diluent against the vial wall and swirl gently — do not shake — until fully dissolved.

Storage & stability

Lyophilised DSIP is stable at room temperature for short transit periods. For long-term storage hold at 2–8 °C (refrigerated), protected from light. Once reconstituted, store at 2–8 °C and use within the stability window specified on the batch COA (typically 3–4 weeks).

Availability in the Philippines

Noxa Labs ships DSIP from Metro Manila cold storage. Same-day NCR dispatch on Mon–Fri orders placed before 2 PM PHT. Nationwide arrival in 2–3 business days via Grab Express, Lalamove, LBC, or JRS Express depending on destination.
